Chef from Hotel in Norfolk Cooks with Celebrity Chef Bobby Flay
Norfolk, VA (PRWEB) March 29, 2008 -- On Saturday, March 15, 2008, celebrity chef Bobby Flay took over the grill at Scope Arena, the city's dome-like convention center, joined by chef Frank Lang as part of the weekend's Downtown Norfolk Food and Wine Extravaganza.
Lang, the executive chef at the Norfolk Marriott Waterside Hotel's restaurant, Shula's 347 Steakhouse, won the opportunity to cook side-by-side with Flay after winning an "Iron Chef"-like cooking competition.
While chef Lang grew up in Winter Haven, Florida, he later decided to attend culinary school at Ridge Technical in Florida before starting his culinary career around the country. Lang was worked at high profile restaurants in Seattle, Richmond, and now in Norfolk, where he has been the executive chef at Shula's 347 restaurant in Norfolk for the past two years. With his daring, experimental style in the kitchen, it is no surprise that Lang enjoyed his time alongside Flay.
Saturday's events were taped for a future episode of one of Bobby Flay's celebrated cooking shows. Sessions were taped at 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and included two of Flay's signature dishes. A Lobster and Avocado Cocktail started the string of courses, leading the way for Flay's inventive Grilled Ribeye Steak with Chipotle Honey Glaze and Roasted Pepper Relish, which was a huge hit with the audience, made the event a success.
